One Body - tattoo by pandalemur One Body - tattoo by pandalemur
The family of Christ is not only a family, but one body, with Christ as the head.
Not only that, but we share in His crucifixion when we become Christians... Ah.. Paul, I love the way God wrote through him. :3
A gift for Heather for Christmas.. I had a lot of fun figuring out how to make this into a tattoo design for her. She said to me a few days ago how much she loved the painting and thought it would be awesome if it were a tattoo design. So... yeah, I made it her gift. I really hope she actually gets a tattoo of it. ^__^ That would be super-exciting.

Love, love, love this design! I keep coming back to it - something about it really draws me in. I showed it to my wife and she really likes it too, to the point of wanting to get it inked. I told her we'd have to ask your permission, so what do you think? Is this a design you'd be willing to share? I've had the opportunity to take a look through your gallery, and you have a real talent for simple, meaningful designs. Thanks for sharing them with the rest of us!

Could you take some photos of what you already have tattooed? I can't really mimic other tattoo styles, but it would give me an idea to try and be a little consistent. :)

As crazy as it sounds... I really would like to reserve this tattoo design for believers that are married. It's One Body in both the sense of believers, but particularly in the sense of a husband and wife.

Let me think about it. :) I'll see if my friend is okay with it since the design was a gift to her.

I don't usually like "religious" art..but this seems very meaningful and is so very well done :)

Thank you for commenting, even if it's not your thing. :) I'm glad you like it.
I like to refer my art as spiritual, rather than religious, though.. since religion's all about tradition and things you MUST do. Nah. Not into that.
But yesh.. don't mind my tangent. *devwatches* n.n

sidenote: i as well HATE the term "religious" for the reason as well that it is all about tradition and a sense of perfect organization. that is NOT at all what God is all about. no man can "organize" God and His will, He is completely unpredictable. i hate that about today's churches, they are all dead and focus on schedules and traditions, that's not what Christianity is about. It's about seeking God's friend forever, not meaningless traditions.

True, it's not about traditions and schedules... Although I have seen and found a lot of faith deep-seated in the symbolism of a lot of traditions. The unfortunate thing about traditions is that they become ritualistic and meaningless, even though their initial intent was to have deep meaning.

I would be careful in saying that all churches are dead -- this is not true. I had once heard a sermon (from a pastor who is actually not all for a lot of churches for much the same reasons as you and I) that spoke about how we judge todays churches. He was quoting someone else, but he said that who are we to judge the Bride of Christ? The Church is Christ's bride... mangled, messed up, dirty, misled as she is... But isn't that just a perfect picture of who Christ came to redeem? Messed up people?
The Church is messed up because humanity is messed up. It's messed up because you and I are messed up. But we all do what we can to seek Christ, even if at times we lose sight of Him and get wrapped up in the "do's" and the "don'ts."

There's a wonderful story about Israel and God's love for them in Ezekiel. Israel is personified as a woman who has been raised up by God and then loved deeply by God... and the woman goes and becomes a prostitute. In the end, God takes her back in compassion and loves her just as deeply as He had before. I think the Church is like that.

.... I'll stop sermonizing now. :)

i like that litttle piece of what that pastor said. im sealing that. :)

well, i didnt mean that ALL churches are dead. who am i to say that they ALL are. (which i kind of did) my church isnt dead, not to brag or anything like that, but to point out that i know that ALL of them are not. my small town of 8,000 has 32 churches. i find that to be unnessacary. i have attended maybe 12-13 of them, three on a regular basis throughout my lifetime. being a new sold out Christian, after finding the church i attend now, (well, i didnt actually "find" it, God led me to a church that I had no idea was even there) and looking back at the other churches I have attended, there was always something missing. God. They were basically wrapped up in satisfying the people that attended through routine acts. Not wrapped up in God's presence. Honestly, I had NO clue that God was actually real, that He was actually there, that He actually touches his children until the church I am at now revealed to me His presence. I dont know if many people know that the Holy Spirit was created to be used all throughout from beginning to end, not just the beginning. i heard this somewhere, something about find out which church is being talked bad about the most in the town, and go there. that's true in my case :)

the end.
